Who are we?

“I expect to pass through this world but once;

any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature,

let me do it now, for I may not pass this way again”.

~ Stephen Grellet

 A LITTLE BIT ABOUT US

Drawing on her extensive background in social work and therapeutic practice, Dr Spurrier offers a holistic, client-centred approach to mediation and counselling. She is particularly known for her work in divorce mediation, parenting coordination, and family dispute resolution, where her balanced combination of empathy and structure helps clients move beyond conflict toward practical, workable solutions. Her approach is both compassionate and pragmatic—ensuring that emotional realities are acknowledged while keeping the process focused and forward-moving.

Over the years, Dr Spurrier has developed a reputation for professionalism, integrity, and ethical practice. She works with a diverse range of clients, guiding them through sensitive issues such as separation, co-parenting arrangements, and interpersonal conflict. Her ability to create a safe, respectful space allows clients to engage openly, reduce hostility, and reach agreements that prioritise long-term wellbeing—particularly where children are involved.

In addition to her mediation work, Dr Spurrier is a skilled counsellor who supports individuals navigating personal challenges including grief, relationship breakdown, and life transitions. Her therapeutic work complements her mediation practice, offering clients deeper insight and emotional resilience during times of change.

At the heart of the practice is a clear philosophy; deliberation results in solutions. This reflects a dedication to thoughtful, structured processes that lead to meaningful, lasting outcomes. Whether working with individuals or families, the goal remains consistent—to empower clients with clarity, restore communication, and facilitate resolutions that are both fair and sustainable.

Through their work, Dr Karen J. Spurrier and Sally Turner continue to make a meaningful contribution to the field of mediation and counselling in South Africa, helping people move from conflict toward constructive, hopeful futures.
